COMPETITIONS
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATHLETES REGISTRATIONS Athletics Ontario (AO) meet sanctions
are primarily intended for events organized for members of the AO or of other branches of
Athletics Canada or IAAF member countries. If meet organizers choose to make their events
open to non-members they are required to collect a fee of $10 from each non-registered
athlete. This fee, which covers the entire competition, is in addition to any entry fee
payable to meet organizers.
A special non-registered athlete fee of $8
to cover non-championship events in the indoor season only is available to elementary and
high school athletes who are competing under their school name and are not training with a
club. The maximum charge per school for an indoor season is $40, payable in advance of the
first competition. The names and addresses of all school athletes must be provided by
entrants or entrant schools. Meet organizers are required to send these special fees along
with names and addresses of the athletes to the AO.
Should athletes wrongfully declare
themselves to be members of sport governing bodies and compete in the respective
competition sections will have their results nullified and they could be barred from all
future AO sanctioned competitions.
Ontario Minor Track Association registered
athletes competing in the "Youth" sections of the meet only will not be required
to be members of AO for the purposes of competing at the meet.
Ontario Wheelchair Sport Association members
competing in the "Wheelchair" sections only of the meet will not be required to
be members of AO for the purposes of competing at the meet.
Further, TAC / USATF registered athletes, or
athletes registered with other recognized Provincial / National track & field sport
governing bodies shall be allowed to compete in the "Open" sections without
being members of AO.
Lastly, athletes registered with the Ontario
Masters Track & Field Association / Canadian Masters Athletics Association may compete
in the "Open" sections of the meet even if not registered with AO with the
payment of an annual $5 fee to AO.
